Rihanna

Rihanna sports a golden bronze-y look.

Fair, rosy skin is definitely a main-stay in winter, but a golden bronze tan is certainly captivating. Luckily, anyone can achieve a bronzed makeup look without the harsh UV rays. Rihanna shows off her glow with shimmery brown eye makeup and a golden bronzed tan that looks perfect on her skin tone.

To achieve a look that’s tan, never muddy, select a bronzer that’s right for your skin tone. Medium skinned women look fetching in golden bronzers, and fair-skinned women are better off with a hue that has pinkish-undertones.

Here’s how to get her look:

  1.  Even out your skin tone with foundation, if needed. Then, use a peachy-bronze blush. Try MAC Powder Blush in Raizin on your cheekbones.
  2. Apply dark brown or black eyeliner to your inner rims. Then, sweep coppery-bronze eyeshadow like L’Oreal Paris Wear Infinite Eye Shadow Single in Copper Penny on your lids and blend it up towards to your brow bones. Curl your lashes and apply thickening mascara.
  3. Apply pinkish or nude lipstick with a shiny finish to your lips. Glide it on with a fingertip for a less done up result.
  4. Sweep a shimmery bronzer across the cheeks. Try using Lauren Mercier’s shimmer block bronzer. This has 4 unique shades that when blended together give the skin a healthy, youthful all-over glow. It also brighten eyes and cheeks with a hint of natural color and light.
  5. Finish with Skindinavia finishing spray to hold your look all day and you’re on your way!

Hillary DuffIt’s time to dust off your classic red lipstick after a summer full of corals and nude glosses. This season, red lips are so hot and famous ladies are embracing their inner divas through juicy red lips. A pregnant Hillary Duff was glowing in red as she signed copies of her new book “Devoted” this month at a Barnes & Noble Bookstore in L.A.  Here’s how to wear the look: You will want to apply foundation all over your face first. Then add concealer to the outer corners of your mouth before applying lipstick.   Fill in lips with liner. Then apply a sultry red lipstick, blot, and add another layer of color. For more staying power, cover with a thin layer of tissue, then reapply and spray Skindinavia finishing spray all over face and lips.  Keep the rest of your makeup low key. Hollywood Secrets Eye Series: Flash Your Lashes like Cat Deeley

Posted in Celebrities, celebrities makeup, celebrity beauty, Celebrity Makeup, Celebrity-Makeup-Eye-Makeup-Ideas, eye makeup, How To Apply Makeup, How To Makeup on October 12th, 2011 by Eva Knapp
Cat Deeley spider lashes

Go Spider-y without looking too Halloween!

Spider lashes are a major trend for fall and are a really fun, and easy, look to try. From runways to red carpets to pretty much anywhere, major lashes—like So You Think You Can Dance’s Cat Deeley’s—are a must. Whether you’re gluing on falsies or using a great mascara, always remember, the more dramatic, the better.

Here’s how to create Deeley’s sultry look:

1. First apply a layer of eye primer over your lashes, this will help you get more length and thickness.

2. Use a volumizing mascara like Big Fatty mascara by Urban Decay in the darkest black you can find. If you have an older mascara, use that one. The more air in the tube, the thicker the formula, therefore the quicker you will achieve the look. (If you have a new mascara, you can leave the top open while applying the rest of your makeup.)

3. When applying your mascara, start like you normally would by applying it to the base and working your way up. After a couple coats, turn your brush perpendicular and coat the top of your lashes for that added thickness.

4. Another way you can get the spider lash effect is by applying your mascara like you normally would and then take tweezers and clump your eyelashes yourself.

So whether you are looking for a great green eye makeup look or an option for your brown or blue eyes, this easy look compliments gals of all shades and colors. Don’t forget to finish with Skindinavia makeup finishing spray before applying these layers so that the rest of your look stays on all day!

Hollywood Secrets Eye Series: Keri Hilson’s Bold Green Eye Makeup on Brown Eyes

Posted in Celebrity Makeup, Celebrity Makeup Tips, Tip Of The Week on October 7th, 2011 by Eva Knapp
Keri Hilson Green eyes makeup

Keri Hilson goes camo.

Keri Hilson rocked the red carpet wіth hеr bold green eye makeup. For the Billboard Music Awards 2011 the R&B diva sported a fusion of gold and green shades, emphasizing her best assets – her eyes.

To try Keri Hilson’s sexy, eye-enhancing look, start by using a deep emerald green eye pencil like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Covet to heavily line the upper and lower lash lines.

TIP: Apply foundation first so there isn’t any spaces around the eyes that are foundation-less!

Apply a matte eyeshadow 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone in your brow bone area. Be sure to blend.

Next, smooth on a sheer shimmer gold shadow like Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure in the crease right under the brow bone.

Take a dark green satin eyeshadow and apply it to the lid with a blending brush. Blend in small, tight circular motions.

Take a gold shimmery eyeshadow and using either a pencil brush or the tip of your pinky, dot it in the inner corners of the eyes. This step is especially important if you have smaller eyes—the light shade helps to open them up more. Using a pencil brush, take the gold shadow and line the inner corners of the area right under your lashes. Then using the pencil brush again, line the rest of the perimeter of that area with the green shadow. Line your eyes with a black pencil. Apply 2-3 coats of mascara and finish with a makeup setting spray such as Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray to seal in makeup. If you want to go even bolder, add fake eyelashes!

Hollywood Secrets Eye Series: Scarlett Johansson’s Colorful Smokey Look for Green Eyed Babes

Scarlett Johansson Smoky eye

Colorful purple hues for green eyes, courtesy of Scarlett Johansson.

The rainy days might ruin your mood but not if you’re sporting a colorful smoky eye look like Scarlett Johansson! Try it out this green eye makeup look with these quick tips and tricks.

To achieve a look like Scarlett’s smoldering, smoky eyes on the red carpet, stay away from blue hues which can make you look like you have undereye circles. Instead, go for black, gray, brown or if you want color, dark green shadows and liners. Then, follow these steps:

1. Apply a cream concealer over your eyelid to create a smooth base for your eyeshadow.

2. Use a pencil liner (black or gray looks best) to trace your top lashline from the inner corner to the outer. Then, use the same pencil to dot between your lower lashes. Smudge both lashlines with a cotton swab or an eyeliner brush.

3. Sweep powder shadow (brown, gray and dark green all work with black or gray liner) over your lid and into your crease, blending the color up and outward.

4. Dust a lighter, neutral eyeshadow (such as ivory) over just your browbone. Then finish with black mascara!

January Jones’ Polished Pout

January Jones Skindinavia

January Jones' Crimson Pout

To add bombshell to any look, try out the newest beauty trend – a juicy crimson colored pout. One beauty who is known for this bold look is January Jones who sported it at the Golden Globes.

Red lips are a great way to add drama to an otherwise natural look.  They’re also perfect if you are looking to take a daytime look into nighttime. And don’t be scared if you have never tried red lips before; you can always start with a sheer lip shade.

For a look like January’s, fill in lips with a matte red pencil to bond the gloss to the mouth, keep it from bleeding, and give it some depth. Next, gently buff the penciled-in lips with a cotton swab to leave a sheer stain behind, and carefully brush a richly pigmented red lip gloss on top.

Bushy Brows are Back!

Pippa Middleton

Pippa Middleton does big brows right!

If you’ve seen any recent catwalk pics you may have noticed that big brows are back! Well-groomed brows are the name of the game this summer but don’t go too thick or too thin.

Eyebrows are the most under-appreciated feature on your face with arguably the most impact, and we’re huge advocates of anything that supports our case against makeup excess. What better way to lighten the cosmetic load than to let your luscious brows be front and center?

The celebrity of the moment advocating the trend is Pippa Middleton is with her shapely eyebrows that frame her natural face.  Several other celebrities like Leighton Meester and Mary Kate Olsen are all growing out their thin caterpillars for hotter bushier eyebrows  – so don’t over-pluck just to fill it in with a layer of brow powder.

Take the time to shape your brows to get that perfect arch, and use a brow powder to accentuate your existing brows. Super-sculpted and shapely brows are also the perfect complement to some of this summer’s top eye makeup trends.

Diane Kruger Smokey Brown Eyes

Posted in celebrities makeup, Celebrity Makeup, Celebrity-Makeup-Eye-Makeup-Ideas, eye makeup, Eye Makeup Ideas, How To Makeup, Tip Of The Week on July 14th, 2011 by Eva Knapp
Diane Kruger Skindinavia

Diane Kruger goes summer sultry!

Diane Kruger’s sultry smoky brown eye is a main-stay staple for every gal on the go – and its an easy option that’ll highlight your bronzed summer skin.

Especially great for blondes, this look enhances the eyes and can be worn night or day. Her eyes are subtle, yet sculpted with a taupe shadow that she swept along the brow bone.

  1. Begin by carefully lining the top and bottom of the eyes with a dark brown liner. Soften the lines by gently smudging with a fingertip or cotton swab.
  2. Line the top and bottom of the eyes next with a matte brown eye shadow using a small brush. Stay close to the eyes, and blend out toward the crease. The color should be in a chocolate or lighter cocoa color. Stay away from red- or pink-toned browns which might give you a sickly look and highlight the red in your eyes.
  3. Dust the eyelid with a lighter color. Look for a shimmery shadow in gold.
  4. Finish with volumizing waterproof mascara on the eyelashes.
  5. Use softer shades of makeup on the lips and cheeks so nothing will compete with the dramatic eyes. Soft and light nude shades look best.
