Eye Makeup Technique Mimi Michaels

Elle Leary is a pro makeup artist who recently has worked with Mimi Michaels’ – with appearances on All My Children, CSI, and Six Feet Under. She offered this eye makeup technique for an “awakened” eye look that is sure to turn some heads!

“I recently shot with actress Mimi Michaels and a few tips that I used on her are some of my favorites!!

First using a great primer on the skin is essential for the application and longevity of the foundation. I really love Smashbox photo finish for this. I used this on Mimi for her 8 hour shoot and her foundation stayed flawless all day with minimal touch-ups.

Tip: make sure you also use the primer on the eye lids for long-wearing and creaseless eye makeup!

The other technique I use is to apply a highlighter at the inside corner of the eye and along the inside rim to make the eye look open and more awake. I use Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Buttercream for the inner corner and Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes in White 14L which has a pearl white sheen. The Aqua eyes product is also water proof so ideal for this application.”

Celebrity Makeup Joey McIntyre

When we think celebrity beauty, we usually think about women. But what about all those male celebrities who always look flawless?

They’ve got some expert help too! We seem to forget that when we’re wondering why we don’t see a Brad Pitt look alike every day. Or perhaps…a Joey McIntyre look alike…something I’m sure a large percentage of our readers would love!

Well when it comes to taking good care of our beloved male celebrities makeup, pro makeup artist Stephanie Frlekin is no new kid on the block.

She’s worked with the likes of Joey McIntyre on many occasions and she’s given us the inside scoop on how she keeps him looking flawless. Perhaps even when Dancing With The Stars?

Here’s Stephanie’s routine:

1. Prep skin with a silicon based primer to keep skin moisturized and lines filled in, requiring less makeup.
PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS:

2. Concentrate on skin brighteners, to eliminate need for actual makeup.

3. If needed, use a lightweight and silicon based concealer to cover up any blemishes / dark circles.
PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS:
a. Benefit: Boing (No.2 works best for most skin tones)

4. Cover face with a mineral-based powder to even moisture balance of skin, without a “made up” look.

5. Use a LIGHT bronzer instead of blush. Bronzer should not have any glitter in it.

Celebrity Makeup Doutzen Kroes

One of the most foremost pro makeup artists and celebrity beauty experts, Jen Hoover, gave us some insight into the stunning appearance of Doutzen Kroes. Here’s what she says.

I work with [Celebrity/Model] Doutzen Kroes and here’s a product and technique I do that she loves:

Mac Pro Strobe Creme mixed in with foundation primer. I love this technique and use it often on models because it creates a wonderful glow and natural looking radiance to the skin.

And when used underneath the foundation, it does not interfere with camera flashes. It creates subtle highlights when used on natural high points of the face suck as cheekbones, nose, and above and directly under eye brows.

Celebrity makeup artists always know how to shake things up mid-season. We are almost halfway through fall and now is as good a time as any.

Tia Hebron is a member of that team and she has a couple of great tips on how to change up your look mid-fall.

Fun With Shimmer Eye Shadow

Hebron explains: This fall have fun with shimmer eye shadows. A lot of brands have some really cool multicolor, multi-dimensional glittered eye shadow for Fall/’Holiday 2009. Glittered eye shadows make the eye really sparkle for the season but remember, we’re not talking a full eye of shimmer.

Apply either to the lower lid or under the brow bone for a modern look!

And What About Lips?

This fall do wear a rich color, full body lip color..like a wine, deep plum or a bold red. But keep color minimal every where else. Even go for cream neutral blush to ensure the skin looks like skin and doesn’t overplay the lips.
