The rainy days might ruin your mood but not if you’re sporting a colorful smoky eye look like Scarlett Johansson! Try it out this green eye makeup look with these quick tips and tricks.

To achieve a look like Scarlett’s smoldering, smoky eyes on the red carpet, stay away from blue hues which can make you look like you have undereye circles. Instead, go for black, gray, brown or if you want color, dark green shadows and liners. Then, follow these steps:

1. Apply a cream concealer over your eyelid to create a smooth base for your eyeshadow.

2. Use a pencil liner (black or gray looks best) to trace your top lashline from the inner corner to the outer. Then, use the same pencil to dot between your lower lashes. Smudge both lashlines with a cotton swab or an eyeliner brush.

3. Sweep powder shadow (brown, gray and dark green all work with black or gray liner) over your lid and into your crease, blending the color up and outward.

4. Dust a lighter, neutral eyeshadow (such as ivory) over just your browbone. Then finish with black mascara!

Eyebrow tips from Jewel's celebrity makeup artist

Jewel has a beautiful and elegant look. While her features are generally understated, her overall appearance is nearly angelic.

When we look at celebrities we may not think specifically about the role that their eyebrows may take in their celebrity look. We tend to think generally of makeup application.

But as we are about to find out, the eyebrow acts as part of the canvas to the face.

Lauren Gott is a celebrity makeup artist for Jewel and does a fantastic job helping Jewel look consistently flawless.

She’s got a great set of eyebrow tips on how to get the most out of your eyebrows to compliment your look.

My tip is defining the eyebrows without having them look painted on and clown-like. I use this tip for singer-songwriter Jewel; she is blonde and has fair brows.

The brow is crucial; it defines the face and can make the face appear more youthful. It is very important not to over-pluck the brow; the brows eliminated should be those clearly out of line with the brows natural shape below and above.

Over-plucking can make the face appear frightened, harsh, or potentially theatrical, and that is not the look I try to achieve for most celebrities. To accentuate the brow I like to use a matte eye shadow in a shade or two lighter than the hair color.

I use a wedged brush with stiff bristles and dip it in water before sweeping the eye shadow on the brush. The key is to not be heavy handed with the pigment and utilize light feathered motions when applying the color on the brows; it should not look like a solid line of color.

The shape created should follow the natural shape of the brow and compliment the face. For Jewel, the brow is slightly thicker at the base of the inner part of the eye, has a slight arch which is in a visual line with the outside edge of the iris, and tapers out in width toward outside edges of the eye.

I like to slightly elongate her brows toward the ends to compliment her face. Last but certainly not least, I use clear brow gel and brush it through the brows in a upward motion to not only set the brow but most importantly to wick away excess pigment which helps the brow appear more natural and feathered rather than drawn in.

4 Stars A good foundation, but….
This is a nice foundation with sheer coverage. The color is good – no visible lines in different light, etc. However, I really don’t see much difference between this product and the L’Oreal Visible Lift foundation I was using before I purchased this. This is not so much a knock to Smashbox as it is a compliment to L’Loreal. When I run out of this product, I’ll go back to using Visible Lift and save myself a little cash.

3 Stars Good product but overpriced
I was able to try out this foundation in the Smashbox foundation kit last year and it was a good find. It has a more sheer texture and when applied doesn’t feel cakey on the skin. For those with dry skin, it gives a nice dewey appearrance and doesn’t settle into any lines. If you have oily skin I would not recommend this foundation, it tends to create a shiny appearance and cause breakouts.

I would say for those who are looking for a foundation with more yellow tones that this isn’t the one either. I was using D1 and at times it was overly red, then I moved to M4 and it was not as red but still looked as if i had bronzer on. Unfortunately, you don’t want to look like you have bronzer all over your face. But if I apply this to just my inner face and not all over, then its great.

To have spf in the foundation was a great addition, except if you’re darker like I am. SPF in photos tends to create an ashy look around the perimeter of the face and it just isn’t flattering. So there are some plus and minus’ about the product so it would be wise to get a sample from Sephora and just see how your skin reacts.

5 Stars Best Foundation Ever
I love this foundation and highly recommend it to anyone looking for full coverage without feeling heavy or looking too made up. I use this with the primer and finish with the Halo Powder which leaves my skin looking airbrushed and beautiful. I have tried so many products and this one is without a doubt the best. Be careful how much you put on, as you control the amount of coverage, sometimes more is less. I am so glad to leave my mineral foundation behind as it filled in any fine lines on my face and made me look old. Try the Smashbox website for free videos on how to apply almost all of their products.

5 Stars Healthy Looking Skin!
I switched to this foundation when my skin became too dry for my usual mineral foundation. I was dreading going back to a liquid foundation because I hate the feeling of makeup on my face. I came across this product at Sephora and it is by far the best liquid foundation I have ever owned. My skin feels perfect (not too dry, not oily!) and the coverage is fabulous. It doesn’t even feel like I am wearing makeup. Skin looks fresh and natural – color matches perfectly, no lines on my face/neck! Hasn’t made my sensitive, acne prone skin breakout once.

2 Stars Disappointed
I tried Smashbox High Definition Foundation after being extremely happy with their awesome under foundation primer, which I highly recommend ( the Primer Only ).

This foundation feels light at first but get’s quite heavy feeling and greasy in the t line of your face after a few hours. It does not stay put because of that

Also wore it for a wedding a couple of weeks ago, were I danced a bit but not to the point were the foundation should have blotched but IT DID and my face felt yucky and dirty because of it

Now, I have not tried it in winter, it just might be great for the cooler month of the year but just don’t go clubbing or anything that would make you sweat when wearing it.

I gave this product 2 stars for the look and feel it provides right after application and because I haven’t tried it in the cooler month.

Here is how I applied it and the immediate result.

I used a application brush (and after not being happy tried a damp application sponge) to apply the foundation over Smashbox primer.

Right after application and some blending the skin looks fabulous / smooth, poor less with a nice radiant glow. It feels light and like it would stay put.

But remember that’s only right after application and will not provide that same look after a few hours

Don’t get me wrong, I am a diehard Philosophy fan. Just look in my makeup bag(s). I was looking forward to this product, as I thought what could be better than having a sunscreen and a pore minimizer all in one?!? 4 Stars Good for pores, not so much for wrinkles
Goes on very smooth, and only takes a little bit. Leaves a nice, smooth, surface with much smaller-looking pores. Keeps mineral makeup and / or powder from settling unevenly in large pores. Once applied, feels like having nothing on. Doesn’t cause my skin to break out, and almost everything causes my skin to break out. The texture takes some getting used to; it’s silicone, so it feels slick, but it’s not oily. It doesn’t do as much as I’d like for the wrinkles under and around my eyes, so don’t buy it as a wrinkle concealer, but it’s a wonderful sunscreen / pore minimzer that doesn’t grease up oily skin.

5 Stars One of the best skin products
I absolutely love this product, goes on light and doesn’t give you that cakey make up feel that heavier skin products leave.

I really like this product. I do not have smooth skin and I have some large pores in my T-zone area. After applying my face feels and appears smoother and the light tint does even out the color although it would not work as a foundation for me. I purchased this product to use as a primer for under the supernatural airbrush canvas powder. I almost like this primer without the powder even on it… but seem to apply the powder anyway. I am 37 and have typical was-out-in-the-sun-my-whole-life skin and i would bet this would be fabulous on younger less damaged skin. I will use this product until something better happens upon the scene, but for right now… i love the stuff!
