Victoria BeckhamMetallic eyeshadow is the latest trend of the season with everyone from Alicia Keys to Kim Kardashian sporting the cool icy shade. The best part is that this can be done subtly or intense for a big night out. Plus replicating the look is easier than you think: One sweep of color can make a delicately gorgeous impact. Or go for a more powerful layering of shades and create a striking glint across the lids. Ready to get an eyeful?

Fashion icon, Victoria Beckham wore a sexy, super smoky metallic gray liner and mascara at the 2011 British Fashion Awards. The effect was stunning when paired with a low, classic bun, dark eyeliner and a creamy nude lipstick.

To recreate Victoria’s eye makeup look, use a deep grey eye pencil like Maybelline New York Charcoal Grey to heavily line upper and lower lash lines, then lightly smudge and draw out color past the outer corners of the eyes. Next, sweep metallic shadow like Sonia Kashuk Enhance Eye Shadow in Steel on the lids, staying below the brow bones. Use a black eye pencil to line the inner rims of eyes and finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. Try  Rimmel London Glam Eyes Mascara for big bold lashes.  Dab a lighter metallic shadow on the inner corners and you’re ready to shine at your Holiday party.

Rachel McAdamsRachel McAdams is a natural beauty in the Holiday film The Family Stone.  Want to know how she does it?  She uses an eco-friendly skin care line called Sponge with products that are based in olive oil with organically grown herbs. Primer is also a necessity! Besides keeping your foundation on your face all day, primer makes your makeup look smooth and evenly distributed. Try Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer. A foundation brush also helps you create a more natural, polished look. When using it to apply your foundation, concentrate on the focus areas which need covering up like the center of the face and blend outward toward the jaw line.

Finish the look with a translucent powder like Maybelline Finishing Veil Transluscent Powder. Translucent works better than pressed powder for a lightweight, fresh look.  The reason Rachel McAdams’ face looks so natural is that she hasn’t over-applied foundation.

Drew Barrymore’s Rosy Cheeks

Posted in Anti- Aging, Celebrities, celebrities makeup, celebrity beauty, Celebrity Beauty & Style, Celebrity Makeup, Celebrity Makeup Tips, How To Apply Makeup, How To Makeup, Natural Beauty, Tip Of The Week on November 14th, 2011 by Eva Knapp

Drew BarrymoreThere’s no denying that Drew Barrymore always looks stunning, but this pretty girl look suits her very well. The soft, flushed cheeks light up her face and make her look younger. This is the kind of look that looks great on almost everyone, and is perfect for Fall/Winter.

Here’s how you can get it:

  1.  Prep the skin with a hydrating, water based foundation. This will leave the skin looking fresh and feeling natural, while covering any little imperfections you may have.
  2. Use a light natural looking eye shadow, like a tan, brown or beige. Give your upper and lower lashes a coat of lengthening mascara and the eyes are done.
  3. For the cheeks, opt for a pink cream blush and smooth it on with your fingertips. A cream blush will give you a soft, dewy finish and brilliant color. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks, and blend it up towards your temples. The warmth of your skin helps blend the color into cheeks.
  4. Apply a shiny pink gloss to the lips.
  5. Mist Skindinavia’s finishing spray all over the face to keep the look in place.

Hillary Duff red lipstick It’s time to dust off your classic red lipstick after a summer full of corals and nude glosses. A pregnant Hillary Duff was glowing in red as she signed copies of her new book “Devoted” this month at a Barnes & Noble Bookstore in L.A.  Here’s how to wear the look: You will want to apply foundation all over your face first. Then add concealer to the outer corners of your mouth before applying lipstick.   Fill in lips with liner. Then apply a sultry red lipstick, blot, and add another layer of color. For more staying power, cover with a thin layer of tissue, then reapply and spray Skindinavia finishing spray all over face and lips.  Keep the rest of your makeup low key. When you rock the red lips make sure they stand out – Don’t overload on color everywhere—if you’re wearing a vibrant shade all you really need is mascara.

Leighton Meester’s Perfectly Contoured Cheeks

Leighton Meester

Contoured cheeks a la Leighton Meester

Contoured cheeks are synonymous with Fall and this season is no exception. Rouged cheekbones, like the ones seen here on Leighton Meester, are an easy way to add definition to your face, make it look thinner and quickly turn your makeup look trendy.

If only we could all be born with naturally high and defined cheek bones. Most of us, however, need a little help to get the perfect contour and shape. Here’s how to create a Leighton-like look in three easy steps. First, apply a primer on your face to help to create an even surface for your makeup. Then apply a foundation that’s one or two shades darker than your skin tone to the area of your cheeks that hollows out when you pucker up. Blend well, so that there’s no line.

Use a peachy apricot or a brown-based blush on the apples of your cheeks and be sure to blend well. Lastly, shine and define. Use a light golden or shimmery yellowish powder on the area right above your cheekbones. One swipe with the brush should be enough for a glowing accent. Finish with Skindinavia’s Original Finishing Spray to keep your sexy contoured cheeks in place.

Nail Alert: Eva Mendes’s Dark Blue Polish

Posted in Celebrities, celebrities makeup, celebrity beauty, Celebrity Beauty & Style, Celebrity Makeup Tips, How To Makeup, Nails on October 19th, 2011 by Eva Knapp

Eva Mendez Dark Nail polish

Nail-polish has officially become a statement-making finishing touch that is just as critical to your look as the bag you carry or the shoes on your feet. Put summer brights away and get ready to cool things down with a palette that’s colorful, but with a dusky, deeper twist. Eva Mendes’s stormy dark blue shade is the perfect accompaniment to her dark dress.

OPI’s “Lincoln Park After Dark” has been the number one selling nail polish in the country for two years. It’s a so-dark-eggplant that it almost looks black, but picks up so perfectly in the light that it’s a favorite from preteens to women in their golden years. Another dramatic dark that’s not quite black is “Russian Navy”. And for those looking to go big or go home: ONYX is as black as black can be.

Tips for going dark:

- Go to the best manicurist you can find, a self-mani dark is high-risk.

- Have the manicurist go around your nails with a polish-remover-coated-brush when finished.

- Wait an extra 10-20 minutes for your mani to be considered dry, dark polishes take longer to dry.

- Add your own top coat every day after your mani, to reduce chipping.

- Keep your nails short, a long dark nail is very Halloween.

- And last but not least, anything in the bottle will look A LOT darker on your nails, considerably darker after two coats. This isn’t hair color, you can experiment and remove it immediately. Find a new signature color, or even try different shades all season long. It’s dark, it’s dramatic, it’s SEXY-chic.

Hollywood Secrets Eye Series: Keri Hilson’s Bold Green Eye Makeup on Brown Eyes

Posted in Celebrity Makeup, Celebrity Makeup Tips, Tip Of The Week on October 7th, 2011 by Eva Knapp
Keri Hilson Green eyes makeup

Keri Hilson goes camo.

Keri Hilson rocked the red carpet wіth hеr bold green eye makeup. For the Billboard Music Awards 2011 the R&B diva sported a fusion of gold and green shades, emphasizing her best assets – her eyes.

To try Keri Hilson’s sexy, eye-enhancing look, start by using a deep emerald green eye pencil like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Covet to heavily line the upper and lower lash lines.

TIP: Apply foundation first so there isn’t any spaces around the eyes that are foundation-less!

Apply a matte eyeshadow 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone in your brow bone area. Be sure to blend.

Next, smooth on a sheer shimmer gold shadow like Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure in the crease right under the brow bone.

Take a dark green satin eyeshadow and apply it to the lid with a blending brush. Blend in small, tight circular motions.

Take a gold shimmery eyeshadow and using either a pencil brush or the tip of your pinky, dot it in the inner corners of the eyes. This step is especially important if you have smaller eyes—the light shade helps to open them up more. Using a pencil brush, take the gold shadow and line the inner corners of the area right under your lashes. Then using the pencil brush again, line the rest of the perimeter of that area with the green shadow. Line your eyes with a black pencil. Apply 2-3 coats of mascara and finish with a makeup setting spray such as Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray to seal in makeup. If you want to go even bolder, add fake eyelashes!
