CKim Kardashianelebs know that the quickest, most effective way to make their eyes look big and gorgeous is with fake lashes. Kim Kardashian regularly enhances her eyes with fake eyelashes and makes it look natural using Kre-at Beuaty’s 3/4 winged lashes.

Now, you too can master the art of faking it and make your eyes pop! A full strip of lashes adds even more drama than a few individual ones. Here’s how to do it yourself:

  1. If the lash is wider than your eye, trim one side of it lash by lash.
  2. Squeeze eyelash glue onto the back of your hand and run the eyelash along it. Blow softly from edge to edge to make the glue a little less runny to apply your lashes.
  3. Pick the lashes up with tweezers and bring it as close to your natural lash line as possible.
  4. Press from end to end and hold until the glue dries (30 seconds to a minute, or sometimes less depending upon the adhesive). This allows the glue to set so that when you lift your fingertips from it, the lashes won’t come along for the ride
  5. Apply mascara while pressing your finger behind the fake lashes. This will bond the false lashes with yours.(It may be beneficial to use an eyelash curler before applying mascara)
  6. Fill any gaps between the false lashes and your natural lash line with eyeliner.

Lauren Conrad’s Romantic Winged Eyeliner

Lauren ConradLauren Conrad sported her signature  winged-eye look at a charity event in West Hollywood. Winged eyeliner is sexy, dramatic and perfect for a night out.  Best of all it’s not too tricky.  Here’s a great how-to achieve the look without looking like you got into some sort of brawl.

When it comes to makeup, less is more. I always think that before getting started on my face (thanks to my Mom ). So it’s no surprise my all-time favorite beauty look is a fresh face accented with classic black winged eyeliner.

Here are a few simple steps:

  1. Spray Skindinavia to keep your makeup intact.
  2. Curl eyelashes and apply mascara. Try Dior’s Blackout Effect Mascara for more oomph.
  3. Using Prestige Liquid Eyeliner: Black Beauty, with a very thin brush drag the brush along your lashline starting from the top inner corner of your eye toward the outer corner of your eye.
  4. With liquid eyeliner make a thin line along the top surface. Apply more eyeliner to the outer top of the eye and create a natural outward curve. Be sure to follow the natural shape of your eye.
  5. Clean away any smudging with a damp Q tip.
  6.  After you have lined both eyes, be sure to compare the thickness on each eye. Are they even? If not, simply take a pointed q-tip and lightly drag the line along the eye to make them symmetrical.
  7. Once you finish lining your eye, allow 15 seconds for the liner to dry.

Zeo Saldana’s Sexy Messy Updo

Posted in Celebrities, celebrity beauty, Celebrity Beauty & Style, Celebrity Style, Hair, Health and Beauty, Tip Of The Week on December 22nd, 2011 by Eva Knapp

Zoe SaldanaThe messy updo is a chic look for the Holidays and is all you need to really pull your look together. If you have little time, the lazy sexy hair look is perfect because you don’t have to do much at all. Just take Zoë’s lead and wear your mane in a classic French twist with lots of height at the crown and face-framing pieces.

After washing, towel-drying hair and spray it with a lightweight styling spray such as Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion. Work it through hair, then use a paddle brush to separate and dry hair with a blow dryer.

Work a small amount of mousse through the hair at the back of your head. This will create volume. Now,  you’re going to make a crazy high ponytail in the back. From there, double up on your ponytail: Divide the ponytail into four sections, then bring one at a time back to the base of your ponytail, securing it with Googy’s elastic “ouchless” clear rubberband. You know how sometimes you just “fold” a quick-and-messy ponytail into itself so it doesn’t hang as long as it normally would? That’s the general idea. Do that to four sections, pull strands so that fall out and finish with a curling iron.

There’s something really sexy about this look because it isn’t as buttoned-up as more formal updos can be. And best of all, it’s easy to create a variation on this look in just a few minutes.

Elizabeth OlsenMost think bronze is best suited for summer months but Elizabeth Olsen works it on the Gotham Independent Film Awards red carpet, proving that a bronze smoky eye will heat up your winter look.  It also takes almost no time so it’s perfect for those days you feel like hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock.

The trick to achieving a soft smokey eye is to layer on. You should start with a solid light brown shade all over the lid and pile on deeper colors on top.

  1.  Prep eye area with a foundation and concealer/powder.
  2. Apply a light neutral base eye shadow to upper eyelid and crease area with large eye makeup brush like Motives Press Eye shadow in Vintage Glam. Also, sweep this color under lower lash line from inner to outer corners with smaller brush.
  3. With a medium eye brush, apply a more intense bronze based color to upper eyelid. Try out Elle’s Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eye shadow. Feather this color under 1/2 of outer corner of lower lash line also.
  4. Add dark brown eye shadow color to outer eye corners for more intensity if desired.
  5. Line eyes with black eyeliner, paying careful attention to the lower and upper eyelids. Try Ultrafresh Black Magic Eyeliner and be sure to blend for a smudged look.
  6. Curl lashes and apply 2 coats of black mascara.
  7. Apply a highlighter to brow bone and inner corners of eyes.
  8. Finish with Skindinavia for a look that won’t smudge or wear off.

Charlize TheronCharlize Theron wore a pop of cool fuchsia lipstick at IFP’s 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. The cheerful shade livened up her black and white gown and completed her look. When sporting a standout lip shade, go for natural makeup in other areas. Use neutral, barely there eye and cheek makeup to emphasize your pretty pout.

Before you start, make sure your lips are well hydrated and dab off any excess lip balm or ChapStick you may have used. Begin by lining your lips with a color that is near-identical to the fuchsia of your choice.

When you’ve colored in your whole lip, apply your lipstick with a lip brush, controlling where the color goes. Avoid smudging in the wrong places. A couple of gorgeous fuchsia colors to try are: Mac Lustering lipstick, MAC Girl About Town Lipstick and Speak About Town Lipstick.

Five Tips For Winter Curly Hair

Posted in Celebrities, celebrity beauty, Celebrity Beauty & Style, Celebrity Style, Hair, Health and Beauty, Natural Beauty, Tip Of The Week on December 14th, 2011 by Eva Knapp

Sarah Jessica Parker Winter is officially here folks! And this means paying extra attention to our curly mane. The dry air and cold wind affects the health and look of your hair. The brisk weather is not only terrible for our skin but it’s also a big hassle on hair. Just as we fight frizz during humid summer months, you want to prevent any damage to your hair during cooler dry months. Here are 5 tips to have healthy, happy and winter proof curls!

  1. Add moisture: Once the weather cools off curls hair begins to get dry. Counteract this by increasing hydration and give your hair treatments more frequently.
  2. Scalp therapy: The frigid temperatures trigger scalp problems for many. Start a regimen of regular scalp treatments to prevent fungus and dehydration. Jane Carter scalp renewal is a great solution for only $10.
  3. Get a trim: Trim off dead hair – when ends are split and frayed nutrients don’t have any place to go.
  4. Use natural oils: Make sure to always seal hair with an easily absorbed oil before heading out in the cold. Natural oils like rosemary and lavender keep the scalp in good condition as well as the hair.
  5. Use extra gel and scrunch: Scrunch with a liquid based gel and scrunch to ensure equal distribution of the product.  Try Catwalk’s Curls Rock Curl Amp by Tigi it. Scrunching product into curls allows for better distribution and removes excess product. It also defines curls and adds volume.

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere

The Winter months can get you into a style funk.  Not only are skies gray but most winter wardrobes lack color with trends steering more towards grays, and nudes. A pop of red lip stain on your lips can take you from drab to fab and Hayden Panettiere proves that the cherry red color does just that.  From lip glosses to lip stains and lipstick, cherry punch lips are available everywhere. These glosses are great if you aren’t a full-on red lips type of person. A bit of stain or some neutral lip pencil with cherry red gloss over it looks great and can be somewhat understated if you want the cherry punch lips look. Here we’ll give you some steps and products to replicate Panettiere’s festive look:

  1.  Apply foundation to even your skin tone and use brow pencil. Try Avon Ultra Luxury Brow Liner, to fill in brows for definition.
  2. Use a black eyeliner like Black Radiance Fine Line Liquid Eyeliner on upper and lower lash lines and inner rims, smudging out the corners a bit. Apply two coats of black mascara to finish your eyes.
  3. Sweep a light application of bronzer on the apples of your cheeks and your forehead. Try using Nars Highlighting/ Bronzing Blush duo for the perfect combination of blush and bronzer.
  4. Line your lips with a cherry red lip pencil like MAC Lip Pencil in Redd then fill them in to help the color stay. Follow up with a matching lipstick that has a slight sheen to it like MAC Lustre Lipstick in Cockney.

Victoria BeckhamMetallic eyeshadow is the latest trend of the season with everyone from Alicia Keys to Kim Kardashian sporting the cool icy shade. The best part is that this can be done subtly or intense for a big night out. Plus replicating the look is easier than you think: One sweep of color can make a delicately gorgeous impact. Or go for a more powerful layering of shades and create a striking glint across the lids. Ready to get an eyeful?

Fashion icon, Victoria Beckham wore a sexy, super smoky metallic gray liner and mascara at the 2011 British Fashion Awards. The effect was stunning when paired with a low, classic bun, dark eyeliner and a creamy nude lipstick.

To recreate Victoria’s eye makeup look, use a deep grey eye pencil like Maybelline New York Charcoal Grey to heavily line upper and lower lash lines, then lightly smudge and draw out color past the outer corners of the eyes. Next, sweep metallic shadow like Sonia Kashuk Enhance Eye Shadow in Steel on the lids, staying below the brow bones. Use a black eye pencil to line the inner rims of eyes and finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. Try  Rimmel London Glam Eyes Mascara for big bold lashes.  Dab a lighter metallic shadow on the inner corners and you’re ready to shine at your Holiday party.
