Go jewel-toned like Hayden Panettiere!

As summer turns to autumn, eyes are getting smoky and dusty with metallics and deep gem-tone shades and with layers of lashes and defined brows.

Jewel toned eye shadow is one of the hottest beauty trends this season that will make heads turn. Although it’s best suited at night, it can also be worn during the day if applied minimally. This polished look opens the eyes and lights up the face and is the perfect makeup match for dark or neutral clothes.

It is best to pick colors that can be found on jewelry, such as blues, purples and greens. You can also achieve this look by mixing and matching different shades of bold colors. It’s all about having fun and playing with shades that bring out your features in the best possible way.

Hayden Panettiere is a perfect example of a girl who isn’t afraid of a little color. The actress paired her vivid orange-red dress with purple shadow which lined her lower lids. The best way to apply is to smudge eyeshadow on the eyelids from the corners to the crease and towards the arches of the eyebrows. Also, you can apply color to the lower lash line with colored eyeliner or eyeshadow.

January Jones’ Polished Pout

January Jones' Crimson Pout

To add bombshell to any look, try out the newest beauty trend – a juicy crimson colored pout. One beauty who is known for this bold look is January Jones who sported it at the Golden Globes.

Red lips are a great way to add drama to an otherwise natural look.  They’re also perfect if you are looking to take a daytime look into nighttime. And don’t be scared if you have never tried red lips before; you can always start with a sheer lip shade.

For a look like January’s, fill in lips with a matte red pencil to bond the gloss to the mouth, keep it from bleeding, and give it some depth. Next, gently buff the penciled-in lips with a cotton swab to leave a sheer stain behind, and carefully brush a richly pigmented red lip gloss on top.

Marion Cotillard's Budget Friendly Makeup Look

While every woman wishes she could splurge on loads of makeup with options for day and night, the reality is that all bank accounts are not created equal. With tumultuous markets and uncertain economy, we thought it best to offer you some of our top makeup money saving tips.

Some women feel that they should invest in a premium foundation – others stick to savvy drugstore buys.  Whatever expensive products you feel you need, you can always cut costs somewhere. Even though celebrities have all the finest makeup artists and beauty products around, just remember, you can still achieve the same look no matter what your budget.

Instead of purchasing separate day and night makeup, opt for shades that can be worn any time.  And, don’t waste makeup by changing it just to go out at night. Instead use some Skindinavia makeup setting spray to keep you looking perfect all day long into the night.  Just touch up a bit before heading out!  Not only is this a money saver, but it’s a time saver as well!

Take Marion Cotillard’s look for example.  Her rouge cheeks, dramatic balmy eyes and rosy lips are a sexy, sophisticated and perfect for a day in the office or a glam evening out.

  1. Start with Skindinavia makeup setting spray to make your look last from day to night.
  2. Then, lightly apply a black/brown liner on the top lash lines.
  3. Next, apply a shimmery gold shadow to the lids and crease, softly tapping the powder into the lower lash line to create a cohesive look.
  4. For lips use a cool-based red lip shade.
  5. Give cheeks a pop of pink with a few swipes of pink blush.
